CPT Exclusive: The Legendary Doyle Brunson
“To be a successful gambler you have to have a complete disregard for money.”
– Doyle Brunson
At the age of 74, Doyle “10 and 2″ Brunson is perhaps the greatest poker tables player of all time. He is the author of several books including Super System and Super System II. Doyle is most notably known for his great playing in the World Series of Poker tournaments, where he has 10 WSOP bracelets, tied for 2nd with Johnny Chan only trailing Phil Hellmuth. Doyle won back-to-back World Series of Poker Championships in 1976 and 1977, and with a lifetime tournament winnings in excess of $5.73 million dollars he ranks 34th on the all-time money list. If you take in accounting for inflation and increased purse sizes, Doyle reigns supreme top dog of the texas holdem poker tables. Most recently he had the WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic renamed the Doyle Brunson Five Diamond World Poker Classic in his honor in 2007.
“Doyle continues to defy the odds and play with the best, but he’ll be the first to tell you, it’s not always what you’re dealt, but how you play the cards.”
