Custom Poker Tables Profile: Men Nguyen

Men Nguyen is a known as the “Master” on the felts. He has had an incredibly successful career, winning several prestigious championships and lots of money in the process. However, for much of Nguyen’s life poker wasn’t even on the radar. He was born in Vietnam and dropped out of school at only 13 years of age. He was forced to go to work as a bus driver in order to help support his family. He 1987, he would escape to the United States where he was given asylum.

Nguyen’s first job in the United States was as a machinist. He didn’t make a lot of money, only $10 a day. This is a far cry from the amount of money he has amassed as a professional poker player.

Eight years after touching down in the United States, he would have his first experience playing poker. It was in one of the United State’s gambling meccas, Las Vegas. In 1987, Men would win his first major tournament. Since that time, he has continued to build his reputation and fill up his bank account with cashes.

Men Nguyen has won a very impressive 6 WSOP bracelets. He earned them in several different events including Seven Card Stud Even in 1992 and 2003. He took home a bracelet in Stud Eight or Better (1995), Omaha 8 or Better (1996) and Ace to Five Triple Draw Lowball (2003). During his career he has amassed winnings of $7,760, 873, had more then 58 first finished and 337 cashes. Men was named the Card Player Magazine’s player of the year a number of years, including 1997, 2001, 2003 and 2005.

Men Nguyen is an excellent poker player. Nicknamed “The Master” he has competed quite well over the past 20 + years, winning millions of dollars in the process and developing a reputation for not only being a great player but also a fantastic human being. Nguyen routinely gives his money and time to charities which benefit his home country of Vietnam.
