7 Coolest Poker Rooms in the World
Individuals who frequent brick and mortar casinos will likely have their favorite(s) and for their own reasons. What appeals to one person may or may not appeal to another. What one person values, another may not at all be impressed with. Because of this, writing lists which contain the “best of” anything are always subjective and should be taken with a grain of salt. While they can be great resource tools, they shouldn’t be taken as the gospel. As a great resource tool, they should be utilized to do more research so that persons can determine if in fact, they agree with the author. With that being said, we will still be providing a list of 7 of the best poker rooms in the world. This is of course, not to suggest that some really great ones didn’t make our list, because they undoubtedly didn’t. However, for the interest of time and working with the assumption that you don’t want to read a Wikipedia entry on the subject, we are going to keep things short and sweet.
Many of our top poker rooms are located in Las Vegas, Nevada. Why you ask? It is home to some of the world’s best gambling, at least in our estimation. Don’t worry. We will discuss a few international ones for those of you are eager to hit the skies and get out of this grand country of ours in order to play poker. Please note, these are not in any particular order. Without further ado, let’s begin.
Bellagio (Las Vegas): The Bellagio is a well run brick and mortar poker room. There are poker pro and celebrity sightings from time to time. Every now and then, Doyle Brunson, Jen Harman and Daniel Negreanu can be spotted playing in Bobby’s room. The atmosphere is exciting, there is an eclectic mix of patrons and there are plenty of games going. Limit games start at $4/8 and there is the opportunity to participate in high stakes games.
The Mirage (Las Vegas): The Mirage has a nice variety of games, both limit and no limit. There are plenty of games being played. They offer some varieties that are difficult to find elsewhere, such as $5/$10 Omaha Hi/Lo. Limit Hold’em games start at $3/$6.
The Venetian (Las Vegas): This poker room is run extremely well. There is lots of space which makes playing their comfortable. The staff is professional and the atmosphere conducive to a good game of poker. They have nearly 40 tables, with most of them running Texas Hold’em games. One of their best promotions is their Deep Stack tournament, which tends to be very popular.
St. James Club (Antigua): This is an upscale casino perfect for those looking for a high-end experience. The St. James Club is situated on 100 acres. Besides playing poker, individuals will be able to go yachting, dance at the Club’s disco, take boat rides or dine at delicious restaurants. While their poker room isn’t the biggest, with only 5 tables, it certainly is one of the nicest and most sophisticated.
Sun City (Sun City, South Africa): In South Africa, the Sun City resort is an excellent place to be entertained. It contains beautiful hotel rooms, a private park, safaris and swimming. It also has great poker as well as blackjack, roulette, punto blanco and of course slot machines.
Casino Metropol (Moscow, Russia): Casino Metropol is one of the safest casinos in Russia. It is attached to a hotel and is near both the Red Square and the Kremlin. They are open 24 hours a day and individuals will be able to play poker, roulette and blackjack. Patrons must be dressed in business attire.
Atlantis Resort (Bahamas): Individuals that love Caribbean poker will enjoy the Atlantis Resort. This is one of the most expensive resorts in the Caribbean and has the largest casino amongst those beautiful islands. The casino is situated perfectly so that patrons can see the entire resort. Besides poker, individuals will also be able to play Blackjack, Roulette, Craps, Baccarat and of course, Caribbean Stud Poker.
