Barry Greenstein is a professional poker player who has racked up more then $5 million in earnings. In 2007 alone, he earned $528,819. Greenstein was born in Chicago, Illinois. He didn’t set out to be a professional poker player. He attended college to work with computer and studied computer science, eventually earning his degree. He would go on to work for a computer company for some time. Greenstein would quit in the early 1990s to pursue a career as a professional poker player. Early on, he would donate his winnings to charities, earning him the nickname “The Robin Hood of Poker.”
One of Greenstein’s greatest years on the felt was 2007. He performed extremely well at the World Series of Poker (WSOP), one of the world’s finest poker franchises. He would play his way unto two final table finishing in 7th place in the $50,000 HORSE tournament event.
Greenstein would win his first WSOP bracelet in 2004. He finished in first place in the $5000 No Limit Deuce to Seven Triple Draw event. He would follow up that bracelet with another one in 2005, this time in the $1500 Pot Limit Omaha event. The World Series of Poker is not the only place that Greenstein has excelled. He also has a history of performing quite well at the World Poker Tour. He has made it to a very impressive four finals tables coming out on top twice.
Besides being a very good poker player, Barry is an excellent teacher of the game. He is responsible for teaching Mimi Tan, a very good female poker player, how to play the game. In exchange for Greenstein teaching Tan poker, she agreed to teach him how to speak Vietnamese. It looks like this arrangement worked out pretty well for Tan.
Greenstein’s book, Ace on The River, includes some of his best tips. He believes that it will help anyone who reads it, improve their game at least at level.
