Sam Farha, one of the most gifted professional poker players on the circuit, was born in Beirut, Lebanon. This is the same place where he proved his flair for the sport of talent and luck. When he was young, Farha did extremely well playing pinball and pool which made him popular in nationwide magazines.

In 1977, he then moved to the United States to study at University of Kansas and finished Business Administration degree. After graduation, he settled in Houston with his brother and worked in a number of jobs before discovering his real passion for poker a year later.

Farha went to Las Vegas to sharpen up his skills in playing poker. His learning curve was measured, but Farha progressively advanced in his game. Farha decided to leave his regular day job to be a full time poker player.

The intense and volatile style he is known for is established on by capability to understand and frighten his rivals in a way that revolutionized the way poker is now being played.

In 2003, he participated in his first major tournament during the 2003 World Series of Poker main event. During the second day of the event, Farha lost big time to Barry Greenstein. He only had 10% of the standard starting stack which made him consider leaving the game already. He was asked to stay by Greenstein and unfortunately got lost his final round to Moneymaker. He took second place to newcomer Chris Moneymaker who won $1,300,000.

Sam FarhaA few months later, Farha and Moneymaker had another game match brought by PokerStars. Farha fortunately won and brought home a lot of money during the 2005 WSOP main event. Currently, he has total winnings beyond $2,300,000 in live tournament poker.

Farha has become a TV celebrity and movie star. He did a character appearance in the film, Lucky You which was released late 2007. In addition, the WSOP Championship Events have been repetitively shown on ESPN globally where Farha has surfaced as one of the real game stars. Indeed, he has transitioned from being a poker player to a household name in less than two years.
